In Valencia, one of the autonomous communities of Spain, the Fallas are celebrated, between March 15 and 19, a deeply rooted festival that mobilizes tens of thousands of Valencians through all neighborhoods and streets, which has ended up becoming an important tourist attraction: the combination of art, various shows, parades, fireworks, music, gastronomic offer and long nights of festivals attract tens of miles of tourists every year.
The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has forced this 2021 to be dated September to carry out this celebration. Within this classic festival there is a solemn tradition: the Offering of flowers to the Virgin, always starring carnations, since due to its size and price, it is the ideal flower for the Offering and it is with which the mantle is "woven" of the three-dimensional figure of the Virgin. Year after year, it has been the resource for it.
But this year there is a big problem: the carnation is a flower that at the end of summer is not in season since due to the heat they are not cultivated at that time at the national level and would have to be imported from Colombia or Ecuador at a high cost, without forgetting the difficult situation that he is living in the country. It also highlights the problem of the durability of the carnation, since it is a flower that keeps well in March due to the temperature.
There are different who have shown their opposition to this proposal. Gabriel Lliso, from the Spanish Association of Florists, warns that "there is no other flower that has the level of production" and, in addition, affirms that "the carnation withstands the heat of September better than other flowers such as immortelle, limonium or margarita ', flowers that have been proposed as substitutes for the carnation in the month of September.
In turn, the Valencian firm Verdnatura, one of the largest national importers of flowers, insists on the importance of the carnation since "any flower is useless to make the cloak, because without water, they would not last as long."
A decision that needs to be taken as soon as possible, since in case of betting on the Carnation, the reservation should be carried out as soon as possible: the second week of June, at the latest.

En Valencia, una de las comunidades autónomas de España, se celebran las Fallas, entre los días 15 y 19 de marzo, una fiesta muy arraigada que moviliza a decenas de miles de valencianos por todos los barrios y calles, que ha terminado por convertirse en una importante atracción turística: su combinación de arte, espectáculos varios, pasacalles, pirotécnica, música, oferta gastronómica y largas noches de verbenas atraen cada año decenas de miles de turistas.
La pandemia causada por la COVID-19 ha obligado a que este 2021 se haya fechado el mes de septiembre para llevar a cabo ésta celebración. Dentro de ésta clásica festividad hay una solemne tradición: la Ofrenda de flores a la Virgen, protagonizada siempre por los claveles, ya que por su tamaño y precio, es la flor ideal para la Ofrenda y es con la que se "teje" el manto de la figura tridimensional de la Virgen. Año tras año, ha sido el recurso para ello.
Pero éste año hay un gran problema: el clavel es una flor que a finales de verano no está en temporada ya que debido al calor no se cultivan en esa época a nivel nacional y tendrían que ser importados desde Colombia o Ecuador a un alto coste, sin olvidar la difícil situación que se encuentra viviendo el país. Además resalta el problema de la durabilidad del clavel, ya que es una flor que se mantiene bien en marzo por la temperatura.
Son diversos quiénes se han mostrado contrariados a ésta propuesta. Gabriel Lliso, de la asociación Española de Floristas, advierte que «no hay ninguna otra flor que tenga el mismo nivel de producción» y, además, afirma que «el clavel aguanta mejor el calor de septiembre que otras flores como la siempreviva, limonium o la margarita», flores que se habían propuesto como sustitutas al clavel en el mes de septiembre.
A su vez, la firma valenciana Verdnatura, uno de los mayores importadores nacionales de flores, insiste en la importancia del clavel dado que «cualquier flor no sirve para hacer el manto, porque sin agua, no aguantarían tanto”.
Una decisión que necesita ser tomada lo más pronto posible, dado que en caso de apostar por el Clavel, la reserva debería llevarse a cabo con la máxima brevedad posible: la segunda semana de junio, a más tardar.
